My girls have always wanted to "grow something." On at least three occasions little white styrofoam cups full of dirt have come home with the girls. All with the promise that all we had to do was water it and plants would grow. Not once have we seen any little buds at our house, never. Once, for my birthday, my sister bought me one of those bonsai trees in an adorable pot. I even researched how to take care of it and I did everything the internet said, but that poor little bonsai died and it died quickly.
So last week Bria came home from school with this cute little pot that she had painted for me- all it needed was a little plant. Then we were at our friend, Mari's house for Sophie's birthday party and she gave the girls some little grow kits complete with pots, seeds and dirt. Again all we had to do was plant the seeds and water them. So even though I have never successfully grown anything the girls and I planted our little seeds and set our plants on the windowsill and waited. I was doubtful, Mark was sure nothing would happen and the girls just simply forgot about the little things.
Then to the whole families surprise and excitement one morning we saw little green shoots poking through the dirt, in all five pots! I am growing something! Daisies and sunflowers, I think!

Maybe you getting it from Mari has something to do with it. :) You know, her and her green thumb. (Isn't that what its called?) When I read your post I remembered the time we went out to our backyard and Mari was working away at digging a flower bed with a big shovel...in her flipflops. :)
Really though, that's exciting. Wesley has been wanting to grow some plants "from seeds" he says. We have inherited some plants and David has kept most of them alive outside. As soon as I figure out where we can buy soil, seeds, etc. it will be our next project.
Happy growing, we'll be waiting for a picture of a big, huge sunflower!
That's great...maybe it's because the bugs know to stay away from your house now...
